Perhaps you also have several flower pots at home, but they no longer look according to your ideas, do not fit into your interior, or are somewhat damaged. But that doesn't mean you should throw them away. These are just perfect for herbs grown by the window, you just don't know it yet. Next to the old flower pot, you will need strong hemp string (or twine or anything similar) and instant glue or a melt gun.

You can start from the bottom or from the top of the flowerpot, the choice is yours. Apply glue to the flower pot and stick the end of the string. Then gradually wrap the flower pot around. Apply glue to the pot and the previous layer of string as needed while always pressing and tightening the new layer well. This will prevent the string from slipping or empty places on the flower pot. When you have wrapped the walls of the flower pot from top to bottom, glue the end of the string and cut off the rest.

In just a few minutes, an old flower pot is transformed into the ideal container for your herbs. You can also tie a note to the flowerpot with a description of what you will grow in it, or simply stick a stick with a label into the soil.

TIP: If you like the original color of the flower pot, you can wrap it only halfway. Natural string will look great in combination with a clay base. And instead of clay, you can also use tin.

Who wouldn't have several jars at home, or empty jars for jams, pickles and so on. But have you ever thought of using them as a planter for herbs? Quite possibly not, but it's a great idea nonetheless.

Put a handful of pebbles at the bottom of the glass, pour soil and plant herbs. You can stick labels on the front (they are available in most stationery stores) or just write with a white marker, which will stand out nicely on the glass with black clay. Then wrap the thread with string or ribbon as you like and you're done. The more skilled can cut a large hole in the cap and screw it back on. This will give (if the lid is nice) an original look to the flower pot.

Cans that even children will enjoy

It's great when you can also involve children in making something for the home. This is exactly the case with flower pots from used cans, which you can make in a few simple steps.

  • First, select suitable cans and wash them thoroughly.
  • Attention, some have sharp edges, and therefore it is better to press them in with, for example, combination pliers, so as not to cut yourself when handling them.
  • Když jsou plechovky suché, je čas na natírání. Použijte barvu vhodnou na všechny povrchy, jelikož například tempery nejsou pro tyto účely ideální.
  • You can decorate the tin with different pictures, children are full of ideas of what they could draw on the flower pot.

Before the paint dries, it's the perfect time to prepare labels for the individual herbs. You can describe the can itself, hang a label on a string, stick a stick with a flag on it, or make names using wooden spatulas and stamps. Spatulas or medical paddles are available in many stores and pharmacies, and alphabet stamps are part of every child's normal kit. Otherwise, you can find them in stationery stores.

When the paint is dry, make several holes in the bottom of the can (with an opener or even a drill) so that excess water does not accumulate in it and the roots do not mold. If the drill isn't your friend, fill in the stone bottom. Then just add soil and herbs, stick a stick with a description into the clay, and the functional decoration is ready.
