Don't blame buckwheat! How does buckwheat tea help health?

Whether you've recently switched to a gluten-free diet, or you just love medicinal plants, you've definitely come across buckwheat. Buckwheat tea, or buckwheat tea in English, has recently won its place among herbal teas. What makes buckwheat unique and what are its effects you will learn in the following lines.

Cereal? No way

It looks like a cereal, it is used for baking bread or making pasta, among other things, it has many qualities of common cereals, but it is not a cereal. The answer to this riddle probably won't surprise you - it's buckwheat. Due to its properties and similarity to real grains (for example wheat), it is often used in baking. However, it is a pseudocereal plant that belongs to the family of russets (like russet or sorrel). This makes it a good dietary supplement for a gluten-free diet.

It originated in the Himalayas, from where it was brought to Europe by Tatar warriors in the 13th century. People called them heathens, and maybe that's why the plant got this name. It gradually became a part of European cuisine, but it remains more popular in countries such as India and China, where it is mainly used for exhaustion, fatigue and convalescence. Since buckwheat husks hold heat well, it is a common part of warming pillows today.

Buckwheat tea

Buckwheat tea is made from the seeds of the plant, and since it is low in calories, it is an ideal substitute for drinks with a high content of sugar or sweeteners thanks to its sweet, slightly nutty taste. However, it is drunk not only for enjoyment, but also to improve health. Unlike caloric drinks, buckwheat tea has a positive effect on the human body and thus helps with weight loss. This also applies, for example, to green tea. In contrast, however, buckwheat tea contains much less caffeine, which some will surely appreciate.

You can prepare buckwheat tea at home. Just pour one teaspoon of buckwheat with boiling water (about 250 ml) and let it stand for 10 minutes. After straining, it is best to drink the tea fresh. For a quite different, more intense and quite possibly even better taste, it is better to choose mixtures, such as Richard Buckwheat tea. It is made from selected buckwheat grains and creates the best possible taste. Pour one teaspoonful into 250 ml of water at a temperature of 90°C. Then let it brew for 2-4 minutes according to taste, strain and enjoy the excellent tea.

For immunity and swelling

Buckwheat is therefore a good companion during a gluten-free diet and when trying to lose weight. It also has a high content of easily digestible proteins, so it can at least partially replace meat in the diet. Apart from these practical reasons, buckwheat is also recommended due to the content of important substances. These include, for example, iron, selenium or vitamin E. These are good antioxidants and help improve the body's immunity.

Buckwheat tea helps with solving problems with swelling or inflammation. In addition, it is also beneficial for menopausal women and helps with problems with inflammatory conditions such as colitis or inflammation of the colon. Its composition naturally increases the elasticity of blood vessel and vein walls, lowers blood cholesterol levels and dilates blood vessels.

Now all that remains is to brew buckwheat tea and drink it, knowing that in addition to light and good taste, it helps the whole body.
