How it all began
Hyson Teas (Pvt) Ltd., a subsidiary of Empire Teas (Pvt) Ltd., is a specialist tea company engaged in exporting the finest quality Ceylon tea to more than strong>40 countries of the world. It was founded in 2002 in Sri Lanka and ranks among the five most important tea export companies of this island nation.
The founder and current director of both the aforementioned companies, Lushantha De Silva is the third successor to the family tea business. However, Lusatha took this business to a whole new level when he decided to establish Empire Teas and gradually expand to other countries around the world. He realized that the future challenge for Ceylon tea would not only be its production itself, but rather the ability to compete on world markets. In addition, the company boasts many international awards and certifications of food safety and quality management system standards. It also holds HALAL and KOSHER certifications and European, Japanese and American markings for organic production.
