barvení vajíček přírodně

Easter is a spring holiday, which inherently includes the tradition of playing around and donating colored eggs. Did you know that you don't need to use expensive chemical dyes to dye eggs, but natural ingredients that you can usually find in the garden are enough? We have prepared for you some useful tips on how to create beautiful colored eggs naturally this year, without the use of chemicals.

Black loose tea

One of the methods to get a beautiful brown color is to use black loose tea to color the eggs.

We recommend making a really strong tea decoction, you can use for example Richard Royal English Breakfast, Ceylon, etc.

Put 0.5 l of water in a pot, add 4 spoons of loose tea, 2 spoons of vinegar and egg whites. Bring to a boil and let it cook for about 10 minutes. For a better result, leave the eggs in the decoction for a few hours. Finally, pour cold water over them, dry and polish with bacon.

Hibiscus not only for tea

For an original appearance of Easter eggs, you can also use loose hibiscus tea. It will help you get a purple to blue color depending on how long you let the tea and eggs steep.

To dye eggs naturally with hibiscus tea, put 1.5 liters of water in a pot, bring to the boil, then pour in 80g of hibiscus tea. Pour a spoonful of vinegar into the mixture and reduce the heat so that it does not start to boil. Leave to infuse for about 5 minutes. Add the cleaned eggs with the white shell, submerge them in the water and turn the heat up again. Let the eggs cook for about 10 minutes. Then you can take them out on a paper towel and carefully roll them to dry, or leave them in the color bath for a few hours and the color will be much more saturated. It's up to you if you want a softer color or if you leave the egg in the bath overnight to achieve a deep, deep blue color. Finally, polish the dried eggs with bacon or lard.

TIP: For a batik effect, we recommend leaving the tea leaves in the pot throughout the cooking of the eggs. They are beautifully printed on our eggs and create an original look. Tea-dyed eggs will certainly not be found anywhere by carolers, and you will be truly original thanks to it.

Dyeing eggs naturally with onions

Dyeing Easter eggs naturally with onions is a popular, cheap and very effective method of achieving beautiful brown colors without the use of chemicals. Just put dry onion skins in a pot, cover with water and add a little salt so that the skins don't crack. Carefully add the eggs to the boiling water, which must be washed and degreased before cooking so that the color adheres well to them. For this, ordinary vinegar will be enough.

Boil the eggs for about 10 minutes and you're done. If you want to achieve richer colors, you can leave the eggs in the bath in the refrigerator overnight. Finally, dry the egg and coat it with bacon or lard to make it shiny.

TIP: If you want your eggs to be even more interesting, collect plant leaves. Place these directly on the egg and pull with a cut piece of nylon. Tie tightly in a knot at the back and let it cook. The result will be a beautiful outline of selected leaves, which can be from virtually any smaller plant you can find in the garden.

Dyeing eggs with beetroot

To get a beautiful red color, we recommend using beetroot to dye the eggs.

The method is very effective, however, be careful when handling the beet so that it does not stain your clothes or the entire kitchen. To dye eggs naturally using beetroot, add chopped beetroot and three tablespoons of vinegar to a pot of water. Bring to a boil and add the washed eggs. Cook for about 10 minutes, then remove the pot from the heat. As with onions, you can leave the eggs in the bath in the fridge overnight to make the color as rich as possible. The added vinegar fixes the color beautifully. At the end, polish the egg with bacon or lard.

Dyeing eggs naturally with turmeric

Cheerful yellow Easter eggs can be obtained by using turmeric, which you may also know under the name of Indian saffron. Asian dishes are very popular recently, so you will probably have a bag of this spice at home, or you can buy it in practically every store.

To dye eggs naturally with turmeric, pour 0.5 l of water, 2 tablespoons of vinegar and 2 tablespoons of turmeric into a pot. Boil the solution for half an hour and then strain.

Put the cleaned egg whites into the strained liquid and boil them for 10 minutes. Immediately after cooking, remove the eggs from the pot and cool them in cold water. Carefully dry with a napkin and polish with bacon.
